Buccaneers dominate LSC – Tomball 127-48

Offensive production hasn't been an issue for the Blinn men's basketball team through the first four games this season.

During that span, the Buccaneers are averaging 99 points a game.

On Tuesday night, the Bucs defense began to catch up.

Blinn stormed through visiting Lone Star College – Tomball 127-48 at the Blinn P.E. Building.

"We're really beginning to step it up defensively," Blinn (4-0) coach Scott Schumacher said. "Lone Star spread the floor tonight, but our help defense didn't allow the open lane and forced them to make a jump shot."

That defense helped the Bucs explode to a 62-19 halftime lead.

The offense took care of the rest.

Sophomore Macari Brooks scored a game-high 29 points, and Cornell Barnett, coming off a leg injury, scored a season-high 18 points.

"He had a great put-back dunk," Schumacher said of Barnett. "He stepped up and played very well."

The Bucs offense continues to mesh, too, as five players scored at least 12 points, including Jalan McCloud, Jourdan Stickler and Eddie Alcantara's 14-point performances.

It's the third consecutive game the Bucs have scored at least 111 points.

"We're starting to learn to move in transition," Schumacher said. "I thought we did a good job of guarding the ball on defense, which led to a lot of transition buckets."
