Jourdan Stickler put up 14 first-half points to spark the Blinn men's basketball team to a home-opening win at the Blinn P.E. Building Monday night.
The Buccaneers, using an up-tempo offense, beat Texas Southern University's club team 118-92.
"I thought we played with a lot more urgency," Blinn (2-0) coach Scott Schumacher said. "We really pushed the ball."
Stickler, a sophomore transfer from Morehead State, hit two 3-pointers and helped the Bucs control the offensive boards as they built a 58-47 first-half lead.
And there was no lull in their play in the second half.
Blinn scored 60 second-half points, led by sophomore Macari Brooks' 19. Brooks finished with a team-high 29 points.
Lionheart Leslie scored 14 points, and Jacoby Green scored 11. Eddie Alcantera added another nine points. It was another solid outing for Leslie, a freshman point guard from Louisiana, who sunk two free throws that iced the Bucs' 65-62 win over Victoria College Friday night.
Blinn played a rotation of 12 players throughout the game, and every player added points to the scoreboard.
