Five Bucs score double figures in non-conference victory

BRENHAM, Texas – Freshman forward Kendall Deveaux scored a game-high 16 points and four other Buccaneers scored in double digits here Monday night as Blinn College defeated Lone Star College-Tomball 91-64 at the Blinn P.E. Building.

Deveaux, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound freshman from Nassau, Bahamas, led the Buccaneers to the non-conference victory. His 16 points were a season high.

"Kendall's a kid who keeps getting better every day in practice," said coach Scott Schumacher, whose Buccaneers improved to 5-4 on the season. "It's a testament to how hard he works in practice and the attitude he has. When he's a sophomore, he's going to be really good because of his work ethic."

Freshman forward Rashaun Stimage scored 14 points, and Darrell Combs, Jefferson Okoro and T.J. Berry each scored 13.

The Buccaneers led 48-31 by halftime.

"I thought they all played well," Schumacher said. "I thought we played hard and I thought we guarded well. We turned the ball over way too much, but from an effort standpoint I thought we played well."

The Buccaneers travel to Louisiana for a 7:30 p.m. Region XIV Conference game against Bossier Parish on Wednesday before returning to the Blinn P.E. Building Saturday for another league game against Navarro College.
