Three Buccaneer basketball players sign Division I

Three Blinn College sophomores signed national letters of intent to play Division I basketball next season after leading the Buccaneers to a program-record 27 wins and their first-ever appearance in the Region XIV Tournament championship game.

Sophomore forward Titus Rubles signed with the University of Cincinnati, sophomore forward Joel Wright signed with Texas State University and sophomore guard Dre Evans signed with Southeastern Louisiana University.

Rubles, a 6-7, 220-pounder from Dallas, Texas, was recently named an NJCAA honorable mention All-American after averaging 14.5 points and a team-high 9.8 rebounds this season. He shot 50 percent from the field and 72 percent from the free-throw line.

"Titus is a versatile wing forward who fits our style of play," Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin said. "He has outstanding athletic ability and brings great physical toughness. He doesn't mind battling bigger players for rebounds. He also has the ability to guard different positions and excels at making his teammates better."

Wright, a 6-7, 225-pounder from Brooklyn, N.Y., transferred to Blinn from Duquesne

University and averaged a team-high 15.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

Evans, a 5-10, 165-pounder from Dallas, transferred to Blinn from Providence College and averaged 8.6 points and 3.4 assists.
