Region XIV basketball tournaments will be streamed live this week

The postseason begins in Lufkin this week for the Blinn College men's and women's basketball teams.

The eighth-seeded Blinn men's basketball team will kick off the tournament Tuesday, March 1, against ninth-seeded Kilgore College at 1 p.m. The winner of that game will face Trinity Valley Community College on Thursday, March 3, at 1 p.m.

The Buccaneers enter the tournament with a 21-9 overall record and a 10-9 mark in conference play. Morris Dunnigan leads the team with 23.2 points in addition to 5.5 rebounds per game. Corey Henderson is averaging 15.1 points per game and point guard John Dewey is averaging 13 points and 7.9 assists per game.

The second-seeded Blinn women's basketball team will start its tournament on Wednesday, March 2, against No. 7 Kilgore at 6 p.m.

The Blinn women went 22-8 during the regular season, including a 14-6 mark in league play that included a 10-game conference win streak. The Buccaneers are led by the sharp-shooting Ebony Parker, scoring 17.9 points per game, while Ekiya Gray is the second-leading scorer with 14.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
