Big game from Dunnigan helps Buccaneers beat Coastal Bend, 83-66

BEEVILLE, Texas – Morris Dunnigan had it going on offense early and helped Blinn College men's basketball to an 83-66 victory over Coastal Bend College Wednesday night in Beeville.

Dunnigan scored 35 points with the help of seven 3-pointers and helped the Buccaneers improve to 17-6 overall and 7-6 in Region XIV play.

Aside from the scoring of Dunnigan, James Harrison chipped in 15 points and John Dewey scored all 10 of his points in the opening half.

Blinn couldn't have asked for a better start to the game as it jumped out to a 15-0 lead and kept a double lead throughout the game. The Buccaneers held a commanding 49-26 lead at the half.

"We played a terrific first half and shared the ball well," said Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher. "We have played well the last three games and we will try to keep that going."

The Buccaneers were able to move the ball around on offense and keep their lead intact as they cruised to the 17-point victory.

Blinn will be back home on Saturday, Feb. 6 with a game against Jacksonville College at 4 p.m. The Jacksonville game will the Blue Bell Creameries Employee Night and all employees of Blue Bell will get into the game for free.
