Buccaneers tab Davis as lead assistant for men's basketball

Blinn College men's basketball will have a new assistant coach as Trevor Davis was recently hired as the lead assistant after stints working at Bossier Parish Community College and Northwestern State University in Louisiana.

Davis served as lead recruiter and strength and conditioning coach at Bossier Parish last year and worked as a graduate assistant at Northwestern State.

"I like the experience that he has had and the people that he has worked with," said head coach Scott Schumacher.

Davis jumped at the opportunity to coach at Blinn.

"Blinn has a tremendous history," Davis said.

From college ranks to AAU basketball, Davis has thrived on coaching and forming relationships with young athletes.

"I always tell athletes that they shouldn't think that they have made it once they sign at a junior college," Davis said. "We are a conduit to help athletes from high school make it to a four-year institution."

A native of Farmington, Minn., Davis received his Bachelor of Arts in communication studies at Hamline University in Minnesota in 2012 and his Master of Science in health and human performance in 2014 from Northwestern State.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 32 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit: www.buccaneersports.com.
