PORT ARTHUR, Texas – Lamar State – Port Arthur took both games of an afternoon double-header against the Blinn Buccaneer softball team today.

Lamar State defeated Blinn 4-2 in the opener and 8-0 in six innings in the nightcap.

In the opener, Lamar State scored a pair of fourth-inning runs off freshman pitcher Shannon O'Connor (7-7). Blinn tied the score in the sixth on a two-run home run by freshman third baseman Peyton Webb, but Lamar rallied for two more runs in the sixth.

Webb went 3-for-3 in the contest.

Caitie Carney (4-5) took the loss in game 2. Allison Artz and Taylor Guidry each went 2-for-3, but Blinn fell to 15-14 on the season and 1-3 in the Region XIV Conference.

The Buccaneers host San Jacinto for a 4 p.m. double-header Wednesday at Hohlt Park.
