Buccaneers claim 16th sweep of the season with 3-0 win over Coastal Bend

BRENHAM, Texas — Blinn College volleyball (23-7, 5-0) claimed its 16th sweep of the season after defeating Coastal Bend College, 3-0 (25-8, 25-16 and 25-16), on Saturday afternoon in the Kruse Center. 

"I'm happy with the two wins this weekend and thought the girls played good," said Terry Gamble, Blinn head coach. "Next week is a big week for us." 

Shelby Sheets led Blinn's offense with 27 kills and six aces. Taylor Henderson followed with 10 kills and recorded three blocks. Roxanne Morris recorded 21 assists and eight digs, while Samantha Boatman followed with 17 assists and also posted eight digs. Cheyenne Te'o led the defense with 22 digs. 

The Buccaneers quickly took a 1-0 lead in the match after downing Coastal Bend with a 17-point victory. Blinn continued to dominate the match by taking the second and third sets by the score of 25-16.

Next, Blinn will head on the road to play Wharton County Junior College on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. 

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
