Blinn College’s Terry Gamble earns 900th career win

Blinn College head volleyball coach Terry Gamble enters the postseason with the Buccaneers after earning his 900th career win on Saturday as the Buccaneers swept Temple College to conclude the regular season.

"It felt great to win it and was an honor to do it with this group of girls at Blinn College," Gamble said. "The love that the girls showed afterwards was pretty special."

Gamble improved his career record to 900-310 in 23 seasons at Blinn College, Jacksonville State University, McNeese State University, the former Midland Lutheran College, Iowa Western Community College, St. Clair County Community College and Mott Community College.

He holds second place in the NJCAA Volleyball active coaches record books with 771 wins. Sue Sinclair tops the list with 950 wins. A majority of Gamble's coaching career has been spent at the junior college level. He was inducted into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2007 after winning three NJCAA Volleyball Championships and three NJCAA Coach of the Year Awards.

"To claim my 900th win at Blinn College at this level is special," Gamble said. "I owe it to so many people such as all the players I have ever coached, my assistant coaches and the schools that hired me. This isn't an individual achievement, but an achievement shared with a lot of people."

Gamble claimed his 900th victory as the Blinn defeated Temple, 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-17) to cap off the regular season.

The Buccaneers hold a 28-8 overall record and enter the Region XIV tournament with the No. 1 seed after clinching a Region XIV South Zone championship with an 8-0 record.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
