Blinn volleyball stays undefeated in conference with 3-1 win over Laredo

BRENHAM, Texas — Blinn College volleyball (22-7, 4-0) stays undefeated in the Region XIV conference after defeating Laredo Community College, 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-12 and 25-19), on Friday night in the Kruse Center. 

"It was good to get the win against a good team," said Terry Gamble, Blinn head coach. 

With the win, the Buccaneers hold a 4-0 conference record. 

Shelby Sheets led Blinn's offense with 26 kills, while also posting nine digs. Brie-Anna Armstrong and Taylor Henderson each tallied 10 kills, and Henderson also recorded five blocks. Roxanne Morris led Blinn with 23 assists and 22 digs, while Samantha Boatman totaled 16 assists and nine digs. 

Blinn opened the match with a 25-21 victory, however Laredo evened it by winning the second set 25-22. The Buccaneers took the lead back in the third set with a 25-12 win and finished Laredo off with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set.

Next, Blinn will host Coastal Bend College on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. 

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
