Blinn College volleyball sweeps Victoria on the road, 3-0

VICTORIA, Texas — Blinn College volleyball (9-5) picked up a win on the road after sweeping Victoria College by the score of 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-20) on Tuesday night.

"We didn't play our best tonight, but it's nice to get the win," said Terry Gamble, Blinn head coach.

Shelby Sheets led the Buccaneers with 22 kills, while Roxanne Morris led Blinn with 19 assists and recorded 11 digs. Cheyenne Te'o led the defense with 13 digs, while posting eight assists.

The Buccaneers jumped out to an early lead in the match after defeating Victoria 25-18 in the first set. Blinn rolled into the second set with the momentum to grab a 25-17 win. Blinn and Victoria played a close final set, but the Buccaneers were able to come out on top 25-20 for the sweep.

Blinn College volleyball will open conference play on the road against Coastal Bend College on Friday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
