Blinn men’s soccer player Alexis Ochoa earns Region XIV Conference honors

Blinn College men's soccer player Alexis Ochoa claimed Region XIV honors after leading the Buccaneers to the first round of the NJCAA Region XIV Men's Soccer Championship Tournament by Laredo Community College.

The freshman midfielder started in 13 games and recorded two assists for the Buccaneers in their inaugural season.

"Alexis was outstanding in high school and continued to carry that over on the field and at the College," said Jorden Smith, Blinn head coach. "He played multiple positions for us and whatever we needed from him he stepped up and took the challenge to put the team on his back. He lived up to the culture that we are trying to create with this soccer program."

Blinn finished the season with a 6-11 overall record and 5-9 conference record after making the playoffs in its inaugural season. The Buccaneers were eliminated in the first round of the NJCAA Region XIV Men's Soccer Championship Tournament by Laredo Community College.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
