Blinn men’s soccer falls short of comeback against Paris, 4-3

BRENHAM, Texas — Blinn College men's soccer (3-3, 3-3) fell just short of a comeback as the Buccaneers lost 4-3 to Paris Junior College on Tuesday night at Rankin Field.

David Jara scored two goals to lead Blinn's offense, while Daniel Lopez scored one goal. Farit Ha and Andres Amaro each recorded an assist in the game.

Paris took a 2-0 lead in the first half after scoring in the 32nd and 40th minutes. In the 47th minute, Paris scored a goal to hold a 3-0 advantage.

Jara scored his first goal for Blinn in the 50th minute and was assisted by Amaro for the Buccaneers to trail 3-1. However, Paris managed to pull ahead by three points after scoring in the 64th minute to lead 4-1.

Ha sent a pass to Jara, who landed it in the net in the 80th minute, for Blinn to gain on Paris, 4-2. Daniel Lopez kept Blinn's rally going after scoring a goal in the 83rd minute for the Buccaneers to trail 4-3. Paris managed to shut down Blinn's offense for the final seven minutes for the win.

Blinn College men's soccer will travel to compete against No. 12 Laredo Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m. in a conference game.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
