No. 1 Tyler dishes Buccaneers first loss, 8-0

TYLER, Texas — Blinn College men's soccer (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season after falling to No. 1 Tyler Junior College, 8-0, on Saturday night.

"We did capitalize on the opportunities that we had, but we learned a lot about who we are as a team," said Jorden Smith, Blinn head coach. "We were challenged with adversity and are hoping to learn from this and grow moving forward."

Juan Garcia and David Alvarez each recorded three saves in the game.

Tyler held a 4-0 lead at the halftime after scoring in the 11th, 30th, 32nd and 34th minutes. The Apaches scored four more goals in the second half in the 68th, 79th, 89th and 90th minutes to take an 8-0 victory.

Blinn College men's soccer will continue conference play against Northeast Texas Community College on Friday, Sept. 7, at 5:00 p.m. in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
