Buccaneers drop conference game to No. 17 Northeast Texas

BRENHAM, Texas — Blinn College men's soccer (4-5, 3-5) dropped a conference game against No. 17 Northeast Texas Community College by the score of 9-0 on Friday night at Rankin Field.

"We had moments that we put together and it was great because we had the opportunity to get some guys in and see different combinations player-wise that we can use," said Jorden Smith, Blinn head coach. "Northeast Texas showed up today and we did not, so that was tough. We want to move forward and continue to work hard."

On defense, Erasto Cardenas recorded five saves, while Josh Frias recorded four saves.

On offense, Blinn took eight shots. Farit Ha led the Buccaneers with two shots and one shot on goal. Alexis Ochoa, Breitner Assafoga, Omar Quintana, David Jara and Austin Dobbs each recorded one shot on goal.

Northeast Texas held a 7-0 lead at the half after scoring in the sixth, 15th, 16th, 18th, 24th, 27th and 40th minutes. The Hawks scored two more in the 55th and 89th minutes for a 9-0 final.

Blinn will head on the road to face Coastal Bend College on Monday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m.
