Buccaneers shutout Mountain View, 2-0

DALLAS, Texas — Blinn College men's soccer (4-4, 3-4) claimed its first shutout of the season after downing Mountain View College, 2-0, on Wednesday night.

"We had a phenomenal first half and found our rhythm early," said Jorden Smith, Blinn head coach. "This was a great win and a lot of players stepped up for us tonight."

Out of nine shots, five were on goal and two goals were scored to ensure the win.

Connor Spiller scored the first goal for Blinn in the 32nd minute for a 1-0 lead. Andres Amaro scored the final goal for the Buccaneers in the 61st minute for the 2-0 final.

David Jara assisted both goals that were scored by Blinn, while Josh Frias recorded one save to keep the Lions scoreless.

Blinn College men's soccer will stay on the road to play Coastal Bend College on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 4 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
