No. 19 Blinn enters Region XIV Tournament as No. 1 seed

The No. 19 Blinn College volleyball team is headed to the NJCAA Region XIV Volleyball Championship Tournament that will take place Nov. 3-5 in Arthur Johnson Gymnasium at Panola College in Carthage, Texas.

The Buccaneers are the No. 1 seed in the tournament after finishing the season 23-7 overall and with a 9-1 conference record. They will face No. 5 Lee College on Friday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. in their first postseason game.

The regional tournament consists of the top eight teams from the North and South divisions of the region with four of the eight teams holding a top-20 ranking in the NJCAA. The teams that will join the Buccaneers on the court are No. 16 Tyler Junior College, No. 9 Panola College, and Navarro College from the North division; and No. 12 San Jacinto College-Central, Laredo Community College, Wharton County Junior College, and Lee College from the South Division.

Admission is free to students with a college ID and adults over 65. Otherwise, the cost is $6 for adults, $3 for students 18 and under, and $10 for a tournament pass.

The top two teams from the tournament will advance to the NJCAA Volleyball National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. on November 16-19.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 36 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
