No. 19 Buccaneers continue to impress with sweep over Laredo

BRENHAM, Texas – The No. 19 Blinn College volleyball team worked quickly to down Laredo Community College, 3-0, as the Buccaneers swept the Palominos on Friday night in the P.E. Building by the score of 25-18, 25-12, and 25-22.

The sweep marks Blinn's third straight overall win to remain undefeated in conference as the Buccaneers improved their record to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in conference.

"We played hard," said Kalie Mader, Blinn head coach. "I am very proud of the girls for continuing to improve each day." 

The newly ranked Buccaneers quickly topped the Palominos, 25-18, in the first set to open the match. In the second set, the Buccaneers continued to dominate as they took off with a 13-point lead to clinch a 25-12 win. The Palominos played their closest set against the Buccaneers in the third set, but the Buccaneers finished them off with a 25-22 win to remain undefeated in Region XIV Conference play.

On Saturday, Sept. 16 Blinn will host Coastal Bend in a conference match at 1 p.m. in the P.E. Building.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 36 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
