Blinn baseball loses to No. 6 McLennan on the road, 3-1

WACO, Texas — No. 6 McLennan Community College came out on top of a pitching duel over Blinn College baseball, 3-1, Monday afternoon.

With the loss, the Buccaneers drop to 13-13 overall.

On the mound, Jace Hutchins threw the first four innings, surrendering two runs on two hits, while striking out seven. John Chomko pitched two innings of relief, only surrendering one hit, while Henry Bird closed out the final two innings and only allowed one run on two hits. The pitching staff held McLennan to just five hits.

Reggie McCalister went 2-for-3 to lead Blinn's offense and drive in the Buccaneers' only run.

McLennan jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Blinn was able to cut it in half in the fourth inning.

Blake Faecher led off the fourth inning for the Buccaneers with a double. Nick Wolff used a sacrifice bunt to move Faecher into scoring position and he scored Blinn's only run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of McCalister.

McLennan scored its final run in the seventh inning.

Next, Blinn resumes conference play on the road against Wharton County Community College on Thursday, March 28, in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
