San Jacinto’s walk-off double sinks Buccaneers

PASADENA, Texas – A three-run rally, including a walk-off double, led the San Jacinto Gators to a sweep over the Blinn baseball team here Thursday.

The Gators beat the Buccaneers 7-4 in Game 1, then rallied from a 4-2 deficit to take Game 2, 5-4, in 10 innings.

Blinn held a 4-1 lead after three innings in the nightcap, but San Jacinto chipped away at that lead with runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings before completing the sweep in the 10th.

Caden Williams was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Stephen Stuart was 2-for-5 with a run and RBI for the Bucs.

Freshman Seth Ballew tossed 7 1-3 strong innings, allowing six hits, three runs—two earned—while striking out seven.

Blinn built a 4-2 lead in Game 1 off RBI hits from James Duval and Cullen Gassaway and a pair of sacrifice flies from Williams and Cullen Jozwiak. The Gators offense, though, struck for five runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The Bucs and San Jacinto close out their four-game series Saturday at 2 p.m. at Leroy Dreyer Field.

Prior to the Saturday's game, the Bucs will present a check to Adam's Angels Ministry, a local non-profit organization that helps families battling childhood cancer, for proceeds raised for the organization since August. Gate proceeds from Saturday's doubleheader will also benefit Adam's Angels Ministry.

Donna and Tim Culliver of Brenham founded the organization after they lost their 4-year-old son, Adam Christian Culliver, to acute myelogenous leukemia. For more information on Adam's Angels Ministry, visit http://www.adamsangelsministry.org/.
