No. 11 Blinn volleyball drops conference opener to Lee

BAYTOWN, Texas — The No. 11 Blinn College volleyball team (23-2, 0-1) fell to Lee College, 3-0 (17-25, 21-25, 20-25), in the conference opener on Wednesday night.

Giulia Hortelan led Blinn's offense with nine kills, while Kaya Yanez and Essence Clerkley led the defense with seven digs and six block assists, respectively.

Blinn fell behind in the match after losing the first set 25-17. The Buccaneers were within striking distance in the second set, but fell by four points, 25-21. Blinn and Lee played a tight third set, but the Lady Rebels managed to pull off a 25-20 win to get the sweep.

Next, Blinn looks to bounce back against San Antonio College in a non-conference match on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Kruse Center.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
