No. 17 Blinn volleyball sweeps Victoria, 3-0

VICTORIA, Texas — No. 17 Blinn College volleyball (10-1) picked up a win on the road after sweeping Victoria College, 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-17), on Wednesday night.

"I am happy with tonight's win," said Terry Gamble, Blinn head coach. "Essence Clerkley played great."

Clerkley led Blinn with 13 kills, while Giulia Hortelan followed closely with 12. Jenni Liu led Blinn with 38 assists, Chloe Mullins served three aces and Kya Yanez anchored the defense with 17 digs.

The Buccaneers jumped out to an early lead in the match by winning the first set 25-21. Blinn's momentum built in the second set for the Buccaneers to claim a 25-13 win. Blinn earned the sweep by defeating Victoria 25-17 in the third set.  

Next, Blinn will compete in the DAC Fall Classic in Irving on Friday, Sept. 6. First, the Buccaneers will compete against Pratt Community College at 10 a.m., then Allen County Community College at 4 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
