No. 15 Blinn volleyball earns sweep over Coastal Bend, 3-0

BRENHAM, Texas — On Tuesday night at the Kruse Center, the Blinn College volleyball team (19-1) earned its fourth straight sweep over Coastal Bend College, 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-20).

"We played really good in the first two sets and lost focus in part of the third set, but I am really happy to get the win," said Terry Gamble, Blinn head coach.

Brooke Borden led the Buccaneers with a season-high 16 digs, while Jenni Liu followed with 11. Giulia Hortelan led the offense with 15 kills and Liu led with 34 assists.

Rachel Barnett and Hortelan combined for nine kills in the first set for Blinn to claim a 25-10 win. In the second set, Bordon recorded eight digs to help lead the Buccaneers to a 25-14 win and to pull Blinn ahead in the match 2-0. Blinn and Coastal Bend played a close third set, but the Buccaneers managed a 25-20 victory for the sweep.

Next, Blinn will host St. Clair County Community College on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. in the Kruse Center.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
