No. 1 Tyler defeats Blinn men’s soccer

BRENHAM, Texas —No. 1 Tyler defeated Blinn College men's soccer, 5-0, on Monday afternoon at Rankin Field.

With the loss, Blinn's record drops to 4-9 overall and 3-8 in Region XIV conference play.

On defense, Erasto Cardenas led the Buccaneers with four saves, while Josh Frias recorded three saves. On offense, the Buccaneers took two shots and one shot on goal.

Tyler held a 3-0 lead in the first half after scoring in the fourth, 24th and 27th minutes. The Apaches scored their final two goals in the 48th and 61st minutes.

Next, Blinn will face Coastal Bend College for a conference matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. at Rankin Field. 

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
