Blinn men’s soccer falls to Laredo

BRENHAM, Texas — Blinn College men's soccer (4-8, 3-6) fell to Laredo Community College, 6-0, on Friday night at Rankin Field.  

Erasto Cardenas led Blinn with three saves, while Josh Frias recorded two saves. Offensively, the Buccaneers totaled fives shots and three shots on goal. 

Laredo held a 2-0 lead at the half after scoring in the 16th and 44th minutes. In the second half, Laredo scored in the 50th, 72nd, 75th and 77th minutes for a 6-0 final. 

In addition, sophomores Austin Dobbs and Tony Martinez were honored for Sophomore Day. 

"We are happy that our sophomores contributed to our program and were able to lead the freshman class," said Jorden Smith, Blinn head coach. "We are thankful for their dedication, time and hard work in helping us lay the foundation of this program." 

Next, Blinn will host No. 1 Tyler Junior College on Monday, Oct. 15, at 3 p.m. 

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 38 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
