"We had three teams competing this week in Waco and it was a good chance to see some different guys play under tournament pressure," said David Johnson, Blinn head coach. "We did a lot of good things like chipping well from around the greens. We had a little trouble adjusting to the greens and that's an area we all need to work on."

John Baker led the Buccaneers the first day with a score of 72 to start today tied for seventh place. He shot a 78 in the second round to finish the tournament tied for 15th place with Jerrion Dukes who shot a 75 and 75.

Riley Simmons finished the tournament tied for 17th place after shooting rounds of 74 and 77. Travis Edwards shot rounds of 76 and 77, while Bryce Penn shot rounds of 78 and 79 in the tournament.

"It was nice that we got to see some teams from District II that gave us a good idea of how we need to play in the Spring to be competitive," Johnson said. "The guys are looking forward to the challenge."

Next, the Blinn College men's and women's golf teams will compete in the Tyler Junior College Fall Invitational on Oct. 20-22 to wrap up the fall semester.
