Blinn men’s golf sits in second place at the UHV Fall Classic

VICTORIA, Texas — The Blinn College men's golf team sits in second place after one round Monday at the University of Houston-Victoria Fall Classic at The Club at Colony Creek.

The Blinn "A" team is in second place, while the Blinn "B" team is tied for third place out of eight teams after the first round.

Blinn's "A" team posted a 8-over 292 to set the lowest team round record in the history of the men's golf program. Riley Simmons leads the team with a 1-under 70 and is tied in fourth place, while Bryce Penn shot an even par 71 for a seventh-place tie. UHV leads the tournament with a score of 286.

Teammates Travis Edwards shot a 75, Casey Harmon shot a 76 and Isaiah Brevick shot a 77. 

The Blinn "B" team is tied for third place after posting a team score of 295. John Baker leads the tournament with a 5-under 66 and now holds the individual low round record for the Blinn men's golf program. 

The final 18 holes of the tournament begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at The Club at Colony Creek. 

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
