Blinn men’s basketball defeats Coastal Bend, 79-57

BRENHAM, Texas — The Blinn College men's basketball team (18-9, 8-8) defeated Coastal Bend College, 79-57, on Wednesday night in the Kruse Center.

"I thought we did a very good job on the defensive end and were able to hold them to 21 points in the second half," said Scott Schumacher, Blinn head coach. "I also thought our players really shared the ball and played together tonight offensively."

Azariah Seay led the Buccaneers with 15 points, Tristan Ikpe scored 14, AJ Rainey tallied 13, and Pedro Castro chipped in 10.

Blinn's offense put up 46 points in the first half for the Buccaneers to lead by 10 points (46-36) moving into the second half. Blinn scored 33 points, while limiting Coastal Bend to 21 points, in the final half for the win.

Prior to the game, the Buccaneers honored head softball coach Rick Church for earning his 900th career win in 23 seasons as a head coach.

Next, the Blinn men's basketball team will travel to face off against Victoria College on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 4 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
