Buccaneers lose to Trinity Valley on the road, 86-77

ATHENS, Texas — The Blinn College men's basketball team (12-5, 2-4) suffered a road loss to Trinity Valley Community College, 86-77, on Wednesday night.

"It was a really hard-fought game and our guys competed the whole way, but Trinity Valley had key turnovers that led to easy points," said Scott Schumacher, Blinn head coach.

Markus Vallien and Azariah Seay led Blinn's offense with 19 points apiece, while Pedro Castro scored 16 and Tristan Ikpe came up with 11.

The Buccaneers outscored Trinity Valley in the first half to lead 39-35 at the break. However, the Cardinals rallied back in the second half to claim the win.

Next, the Buccaneers will return home to the Kruse Center to take on Kilgore College on Saturday, January 11, at 4 p.m. The Blinn women's basketball team will open the doubleheader against No. 5 Tyler Junior College at 2 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
