Blinn men’s basketball trumps Taylor Made Prep, 115-69

MIDLAND, Texas — The Blinn College men's basketball team (4-1) closed out the Midland Classic with a 115-69 win over Taylor Made Prep on Saturday morning in the Chaparral Center.

"I am proud of our guys for getting a 46-point win with an 11-hour turnaround from our last game," said Scott Schumacher, Blinn head coach.

With the win, the Buccaneers finished the tournament with a 2-1 record.

Pedro Castro scored a season-high 24 points and led Blinn with three steals. Markus Vallien scored 17 points, while Calvin Carpenter jumped in with 13. Bonke Maring and Tristan Ikpe combined for 23 points and each recorded six rebounds, while AJ Rainey put up seven points and led Blinn with seven assists.

Blinn took an early 50-42 lead at the break before running away from Taylor Made in the final half. The Buccaneers took off with 65 points and limited Taylor Made to 27 points in the second half for the 46-point win.

Next, Blinn will return home to face off against McLennan Community College on Tuesday, November 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kruse Center. The Blinn women's basketball team will open the doubleheader against McLennan at 5:30 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
