San Jacinto holds the Buccaneers scoreless in doubleheader sweep, 4-0 and 8-0

HOUSTON, Texas – Blinn College baseball had a hard time getting any runs on the board and San Jacinto College-North took advantage by sweeping a doubleheader by the scores of 4-0 and 8-0 Friday afternoon.

With the pair of losses, Blinn falls to 25-23 overall and 15-16 in Region XIV play with one conference series remaining.

San Jacinto 4 – Blinn 0

Blinn was only able to earn four hits in the opening game and San Jacinto took advantage for a 4-0 victory.

Anthony Jones, Angel De La Fuente, Sam McElreath and Tyler Fowler each hit a single in the loss as the Buccaneers left nine on base.

Evan Mata had a solid start in pitching five innings in the loss and giving up four earned runs on 11 hits while striking out two in the loss. Garrett Alexander pitched a scoreless sixth inning.

San Jacinto got off to a fast start with two runs in the opening inning and then scored a single run in the fourth and fifth to take the 4-0 victory.

San Jacinto 8 – Blinn 0

Offense was a struggle again in the second game for Blinn as the Buccaneers were held scoreless and San Jacinto pulled out an 8-0 victory to earn the sweep of the weeklong series.

Jones hit a double while Jay Anderson and Colton Parrish each had a single for the Buccaneers.

San Jacinto again got off to a hot start with five runs in the first inning and then was able to add two in the third and one more in the fifth for the 8-0 victory to complete the sweep.

Blinn will next hit the road to face Temple College on Monday, May 1 at 4 p.m.
