Blinn College’s Madison Davis ties for first place at TJC Spring Invitational, No. 12 Bucs finish fifth as team

BULLARD, Texas — Blinn College freshman Madison Davis tied for a first-place finish at the Tyler Junior College Spring Invitational at Oak Hurst Golf Course.

"The ladies bounced back today like I thought they would and shot a lot better than yesterday," said David Johnson, Blinn head coach. "Madison tied for medalist honors and was the women's individual medalist after winning a scorecard playoff. She shot a great round today for the come-from-behind win."

Davis opened the tournament with a score of 83 to sit tied for fifth place on Monday before rallying for the win with a final-round 78. Davis became the first golfer in the Blinn women's golf program's history to seal an individual win.

The No. 12 Blinn women's golf team followed up Monday's 453 with a 416 on Tuesday to end with a team total of 869 for a fifth-place finish. Tyler won the tournament with a team total of 695.

Nichole Burgess shot a 100 in the first round and an 88 in the second round for 11th place. Teammates Rebecca Michael shot a 115 and 108, while Paige Moyle shot a 155 and 142.

Next, the Blinn men's and women's golf teams will compete in the Prairie View Invitational on March 15-17.
