Blinn women’s golf finishes third at Tyler Junior College Fall Invitational

TYLER, Texas — Madison Davis tied for fourth overall to lead the Blinn College women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Tyler Junior College Invitational.

At Pine Springs Golf Club, Davis posted an 87 Tuesday after shooting a 75 on Monday. Blinn scored a two-round team total of 354 for third place, while tournament host Tyler won the tournament.

"The girls have been working hard to get better at different skill sets this fall and I thought we made some good improvements each time we played," said David Johnson, Blinn head coach. "The ladies are a fun bunch to be around and I would like to thank assistant coach Katie Johnston for all her hard work with the girls. She has done an outstanding job."

Sierra Jameson shot rounds of 80 and 90 to finish in 11th place, while Cheyenne Sowda shot rounds of 91 and 83 to place 14th.

Teammates Julia Janczak and Rebecca Michael shot rounds of 95 and 96, and 94 and 98, respectively.

Next, the women's and men's golf teams will begin the spring season at the University of Houston-Victoria Claude Jacobs Invitational in Victoria on Feb. 15-17.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
