Blinn gets swept by San Jacinto on the road

HOUSTON, Texas – Blinn College baseball did much better on offence in the second game against San Jacinto College-North but was still swept by the score 10-0 and 6-4 Thursday evening in Houston.

The pair of losses drops the Blinn record to 23-29 overall and 13-25 in the Region XIV South Zone standings. The doubleheader at San Jacinto marks the final road trip of the season for the Buccaneers.

San Jacinto 10 – Blinn 0

Blinn had a hard time getting any offense going in the opening game and San Jacinto poured it on late to earn the 10-0 victory in six innings to open the doubleheader.

Angel De La Fuente had the lone hit for the Buccaneers with a single and the only other base runner for Blinn was when Jay Anderson was hit by a pitch.

San Jacinto scored one run in the first, two in the third, four in the fifth and three in the sixth inning to end the game early.

San Jacinto 6 – Blinn 4

Blinn had much more firepower on offense in the second game but San Jacinto jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held on for the 6-4 victory to sweep the doubleheader.

Anderson had a solid game at the plate with a double and a triple and a run batted in. De La Fuente brought in a pair of runs with a single while Elijah MacNamee also knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly and added a single.

San Jacinto did jump out to a 5-0 lead after one run in the first and two runs in the second and fifth innings to grab a big early lead.

Blinn did get back into the game in the sixth when Patrick King started the inning with a walk and then came around to score on a double by Anderson to left for the first run. De La Fuente knocked in two runs with a single to left to get the Buccaneers within 5-3.

Blinn even got the game within a run when Anderson tripled with one out in the eighth and was brought in by a sacrifice fly by MacNamee to get within 5-4. That would be as close as Blinn would get as San Jacinto did not allow another run and scored an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to make the final score 6-4.
