Blinn College infielder Cullen Jozwiak (Brenham) saw his offseason work pay off in 2015 with plenty of hits and the inaugural Leroy Dreyer MVP Diamond award.

The MVP award is new to the 2015 baseball season and named after former Blinn baseball coach and athletic director Leroy Dreyer, who worked at the College for 36 years.

Jozwiak led the team in hits (59) while maintaining a .335 batting average. He was also part of the 2014 Buccaneer team that made it to the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.

"It really is an honor to receive this award and it has been a privilege to play here at Blinn," Jozwiak said.

"Cullen was always a player that was going to help defensively, but he earned his spot in the lineup as well," said coach Harvey McIntyre. "He really worked hard last summer to improve by being here working out four or five times a week."

Dreyer, who presented Jozwiak the award, was proud to give the first award to a student-athlete from Brenham.

"You couldn't have given this award to a better guy than Cullen Jozwiak," Dreyer said.

Blinn went 28-26 last season and qualified for the Region XIV Tournament.

Jozwiak will continue to play baseball at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi next season.
