GALVESTON, Texas – Scoring only two runs in two games, Blinn College baseball got swept in a double-header by Galveston College 3-2 and 3-0 March 28 in Galveston.

The pair of losses drops the Blinn conference record to 8-14 and the overall record sags to 17-15.

The first game was up for grabs as Blinn came back to tie the game at 2-2 after trailing by two runs early in the game but Galveston picked up the win with a single run in the ninth to grab the opening victory.

Kaylor Chafin pitched a solid game and all three runs that were given up were unearned while he struck out six batters. Patrick King had a solid game at the plate with two singles and an RBI. Cullen Jozwiak, Stephen Stuart and Christian Thames each had two hits in the loss as the Buccaneers left nine stranded on base.

Galveston jumped ahead in the second inning with a pair of runs but Blinn was able to fight back. Jozwiak got it started with a two out single and then was brought in by a single to right by King to get within one run. King was later able to score to knot the game up at 2-2. Unfortunately, that would be the final run for Blinn as Galveston won the game with a run in the ninth.

In the second game, Nathan Alexander pitched well enough to win by only giving up three earned runs in six innings but with no run support Galveston was able to grab a 3-0 victory. Thames was the only Buccaneer to get an extra-base hit with a double.

Galveston scored a single run in the second and two more in the fourth to earn the victory.

Blinn will be back home on March 30 for a nine-inning game against McLennan Community College that starts at 3 p.m. at Leroy Dreyer Field in Brenham.
