Buccaneers shine in Texas-New Mexico all-star baseball game

Seven Blinn College baseball players participated in the recent Texas–New Mexico Junior College Baseball All-Star Weekend hosted at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas.

Caden Williams went 2-for-4 and doubled, Stephen Stuart doubled and posted the second-fastest 60-yard dash time on the weekend and James Duval went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and played strong defense at catcher. Jager Toffan didn't come away with a hit, but showed off his strong arm in the outfield.

On the mound, Shane McCarley and Seth Ballew each threw scoreless innings, and Christian Thames allowed one run.

"I thought our guys really stood out this weekend," Blinn head coach Harvey McIntyre said. "You're talking about some of the very best players in Texas and New Mexico junior college baseball, and usually someone has a bad day but all seven did great. I'm very proud of how they represented Blinn College."

The Texas roster was voted on by the Region XIV Conference coaches.

The Buccaneers are coming off their first appearance at the Junior College World Series in 22 years. Blinn finished fifth in the tournament, defeating Cochise (Ariz.) 7-4 in its opener, then topping No. 1-ranked Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) 10-2. Blinn qualified for the World Series by defeating Alvin in the Region XIV Conference Tournament championship.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 29 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
