Two Buccaneers receive NJCAA softball all-tournament honors

Two Blinn College softball players earned all-tournament recognition for their recent performance at the NJCAA National Championships in St. George, Utah.

Courtney White was named to the all-tournament team for her work at the plate and Avery Mullendore was named most outstanding defensive player.

"Courtney has hit for a very good average all year and seems to come up with the clutch hits," coach Rick Church said. "Avery is just a consistent defender and very smooth at second base."

A freshman from Richmond, White hit .533 (8-for-15) for the tournament and drew the game-winning walk against Chattanooga State Community College. She hit two home runs while driving in seven runs.

Mullendore, a sophomore from Fort Worth, was recognized for her defensive consistency at second base as she started all four tournament games at the position for Blinn. Mullendore did not commit a single error in the infield.

Blinn softball capped a successful season with a 21-3 conference record and 45-16 overall record. The Buccaneers won the Region XIV Tournament in Lufkin and went 2-2 at the 2015 NJCAA National Softball Tournament in St. George.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 32 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit: www.buccaneersports.com.
