Former Blinn College baseball coach Kyle Van Hook was recently inducted into the Texas Scouts Association (TSA) Hall of Fame after serving as a professional baseball scout for 21 seasons.

"This is one of the best honors that I have had in my career," Van Hook said. "To be honored like this after scouting for so long means a lot to me. So many legends in scouting have been inducted into this Hall of Fame which makes it even more special."

Van Hook was inducted into the Hall of Fame on Saturday at a dinner in Sugar Land.

Van Hook served as the head coach for the Blinn Buccaneers for seven seasons (1991-98) before becoming a professional scout. While at Blinn, he collected more than 300 wins and took the Buccaneers to the NJCAA World Series for the first time in 24 years in 1992. Three of his players reached the Major League level.

He is currently a scout for the Cleveland Indians where he has served the past eight seasons. His first 13 years of scouting were with the Seattle Mariners.

Van Hook served as the president of the TSA from 2016-17, and is the current co-director of the Fallen Scout golf tournament which raises money for members of the baseball community in times of great need.  

The TSA is an organization to promote professional baseball within communities of Texas and Oklahoma and is comprised of area scouts in Texas from all 30 Major League Baseball teams.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
