Buccaneers complete perfect weekend by sweeping Coastal Bend, 3-0

BEEVILLE, Texas – Blinn College volleyball showed off its depth in fashion in a commanding 3-0 sweep of Coastal Bend College Saturday afternoon by the score 25-19, 25-19 and 25-16 in Beeville.

The Buccaneers have now won seven matches in a row including their last 15 sets as the overall record improves to 22-8 and 7-1 in Region XIV play.

"We were able to play different lineups and we still played well," said Blinn head coach Kalie Mader. "Depth is important team and I feel like the team with the best depth is usually the best team."

Blinn was able to move some players around and still control the match. Eboni Mitchell led the Buccaneers with nine kills. Usually strong on the defensive end, Barbara Krug played all positions and came up with eight kills and six digs for an all-around solid match.

Darby Mussulman came up with six kills. Danusia Borgeuad led with eight digs and Jordyn Keamo dished out 31 assists and three aces.

The scores of the sets were fairly close but Blinn was able to come out on top in the first two sets by the score 25-19. Looking to close out the match, the Buccaneers took control of the third set and came away with the sweep after taking the final set 25-16 to earn the 22nd victory on the season.

Blinn will be back home Tuesday, Oct. 20 when it hosts San Jacinto College-Central at 6 p.m. in the PE Building in Brenham. Both Blinn and San Jacinto have only one loss in the South Zone Division of Region XIV.
