No. 16 Blinn gets revenge for earlier loss by sweeping Wharton, 3-0

WHARTON, Texas – Blinn College volleyball didn't look like the same team that lost to Wharton County Junior College in four sets earlier in the year as the Buccaneers earned a little revenge by sweeping Wharton 3-0 Wednesday night in Wharton.

Blinn showed the growth that it has made as a team as they atoned for the conference-opening loss to Wharton with a sweep by the score 25-14, 25-19 and 25-19. With the sweep, the Buccaneers improve to 19-8 overall and 5-1 in conference while winning their fourth match in a row.

Abolanle Onipede led Blinn in kills with 10 and a .429 hitting percentage. Haley Howard and Eboni Mitchell each had seven kills while Jordyn Keamo did an excellent job setting up her teammates with 35 assists.

Barbara Krug led the defensive effort with 11 digs while Dana Teets had nine.

The Buccaneers came out firing from the first set and didn't let up as they grabbed the first 25-14. From there, Blinn kept the foot on the game and left Wharton with a three-set loss.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 32 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
