Blinn ends season with Region XIV Tournament loss to No. 12 Angelina

The Blinn College women's soccer team fell to 12th-ranked Angelina College 2-0 in the quarterfinal round of the Region XIV Tournament on Thursday in Lufkin, Texas.

The Buccaneers finish their season with a 6-10-1 record after reaching the postseason for the third consecutive season since the program's launch in 2018.

"The girls played brilliantly today and gave maximum effort," first-year Blinn head coach Alexandria Jackson said. "As we look forward to the bright future of a great freshman group, there isn't a better way to honor our sophomores."

Blinn will say goodbye to second-year players Jordan Bell, Anissa Chairez, Kara Papadimitro, Taiya Mitchell, Dejah Marsh, Kaylynn McCall, Nathalie Hernandez, and Avynn Ramos.

"They have set the standard for the program to make the playoffs and to excel in the classroom," Jackson added. "I am forever grateful for their investment into our program."

Against the second-seeded Roadrunners, the Buccaneers kept the match scoreless until the eighth minute. The contest remained a 1-0 battle until Angelina tacked on an insurance goal in the 77th minute.

The Roadrunners held a slight 5-3 advantage in shots.

Chairez, freshman defender Bailey Edwards, and freshman midfielder Rileigh Toner each had chances at the net for the Bucs.

Freshman goalkeeper Sydney Gibbs made three saves for Blinn.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
