No. 14 Blinn tops Lee College in four sets for second Region XIV win 

 

The 14th-ranked Blinn College volleyball team knocked off Lee College in four sets of a Region XIV match Wednesday in Baytown, Texas.

The Buccaneers earned a 23-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-14 victory and improved to 13-3 overall with a 2-2 region record.

"I think this was one of the best overall matches we have played all season," Blinn head coach Terry Gamble said. "I could not be prouder of my team and how they played."

Buccaneer hitters LaNeah Lara (a freshman) and sophomore Kierslynn Wright paced Blinn's offense with 16 and 13 kills, respectively, while freshmen Polianna Hernandez and Zuzia Rut had six and five apiece. Freshman setters Kelsi Wingo and Darby Nash dished out 22 and 20 set assists, respectively. Blinn was also effective at the service line, as Nash and freshmen Emily Hardee, Taylor Glendening, and Madi Gundry had two aces apiece. Wright and sophomore libero Ellie Turner had one each.

Defensively, Turner recorded 26 digs.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
