Blinn moves Region XIV South twin bill against Galveston to Monday

The Blinn College softball team's regular-season finale has been moved up to Monday, May 2.

The Buccaneers will finish their season with a Region XIV South doubleheader against Galveston College beginning at 2 p.m. at Hohlt Park in Brenham.

The two games were originally set for Tuesday, but inclement weather forced the schedule shakeup.

Blinn (18-29 overall, 11-11 South zone) can help its Region XIV Tournament prospects with a sweep of the Whitecaps (19-19, 10-9). Galveston currently holds the fourth and final playoff berth in the South Zone, while the Bucs sit behind them in fifth place. Should Blinn capture both games Monday, it would need some help from both South zone leader San Jacinto College-South and third-place Coastal Bend Community College, both of which have games remaining against Galveston.

The Buccaneers could split Monday's twin bill and still reach the region tournament but would still need the Whitecaps' performances against San Jacinto and Coastal Bend to fall in Blinn's favor.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
