Blinn names 180 students to athletic director’s honor roll

The Blinn College District has named 180 student-athletes to the Fall 2020 Don Wilhelm Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

To be eligible, student-athletes must post a 3.0 or better grade point average (GPA) and pass a minimum of 12 college-level credit hours.

Thirty-two student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average: volleyball players Ashley Acuna, Brooke Borden, Kyndal Coufal, Lixai Perez Velez, Savannah Sebek, and Emily Smajstrla; softball players Mallory LeDoux, Marley Mahoney, Emily Murphy, Natilee Reed, Italie Speziale Potter, and Renna Toomey; women's soccer players Mia Anguiano, Mercy Breazeale, Hope Hillhouse, Madison Kanelos, and Morgan Winthrop; dance team members Ashley Jacobs-Sheppard, Destiny Ramos, and Jamia Smith; cheerleaders Briana Slaby and Cheyenne Tuley-Dittmer; baseball players Callum Burton and Patrick Hail; women's basketball players Hailey Atwood and Rebekah Malik; men's soccer players Rodrigo Marquez and Ethan Unger; men's golfers Justin Dees and Hayden Roup; women's golfer Katelyn Foster; and men's basketball player Jadon Vann.

Baseball had the most honor roll students with 25, followed by women's soccer with 22.

"I commend our student-athletes for the discipline and drive to be able to stay focused on their academics during these trying times," said Scott Schumacher, Athletic Director. "Our coaches do a tremendous job of recruiting athletes that are students first and to have a record-breaking number of student-athletes listed on the athletic director's honor roll is an accomplishment our entire athletic department is incredibly proud of."

The honor roll is named after former Blinn Athletic Director Don Wilhelm, an NJCAA Hall of Famer who served the College for 10 years.
