The Blinn College football coaching staff waited patiently for 44 National Letters of Intent to be sent in during head coach Ryan Mahon's first recruiting class for the Buccaneers on National Signing Day, Wednesday, Feb. 1.
Blinn had a well-rounded recruiting class and was able to fill all position needs across the board.
"It is a different feeling now that I am head coach because I am the one giving out the offers and showing off the program to the athletes and their families," Mahon said. "It has been a special experience because you only get your first signing class once."
On the offensive side of the ball, running back Carlos Grace (Crosby) could have a chance to contribute running behind offensive lineman Garrison Tullos (Bryan). Wide receivers Keric Wheatfall (Cy-Ranch) and Quinton Newton (Klein Collins) have a chance to catch some passes on the field in the fall.
On the defensive side of the ball, linebackers Giovonnia Moore (Columbus, Ga.) and Trevor Harmanson (Dickinson) could be factors. Defensive back Kerry Johnson (Westfield) will be out on the field making life difficult for wide receivers while Vonte Davis (Terry) is an athlete that can help the defense out but does not have a set position.

Blinn finished 2016 with a 5-4 record, falling just short of the Southwest Junior College Football Conference playoffs.
