Blinn men’s soccer falls to Jacksonville, 1-0

BRENHAM, Texas — The Blinn College men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season to Jacksonville College, 1-0, at Rankin Field Friday.

With the loss, the Buccaneers are now 2-1 overall and in conference play.

"I thought the match was evenly fought and a real battle from start to finish," head coach Michael McBride said. "These are the matches where you learn most about yourself as a team. Our goal is to become stronger each week and see where that takes us."

Goalkeeper Diego Berlingeri totaled nine saves in the game.

Although the Buccaneers had seven shots against Jacksonville, they never could land on the board. Ethan Unger led Blinn with two shots on goal.

Blinn and Jacksonville remained scoreless until the 88th minute when the Jaguars scored on a penalty kick to pull ahead 1-0.

Next, the Buccaneers will travel to compete against No. 3 Tyler Junior College on Tuesday, April 13, at 4 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
