Lee College pulls away from Blinn with big second half

The Blinn College men's basketball team fell to Lee College, 80-52, in Region XIV play at the Kruse Center on Saturday in Brenham, Texas.

The Buccaneers are now 11-11 overall and 4-7 in region competition.

Blinn trailed 39-25 at halftime and pulled within 43-33 early in the second half, but Lee (15-4, 7-2 Region XIV) went on a 30-7 run to pull away for good.

"I thought in the first half the score wasn't indicative of how we played," Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said. "I thought we were right there but made some mistakes and missed some shots. Then in the second half, Lee just took it to us. They're a good basketball team and they beat us good."

Leading the way offensively for the Buccaneers was sophomore guard Calvin Carpenter, who finished with 13 points, and freshman guard Maruice Pinnock, who tallied nine.

Blinn returns to the court at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25 for a region road tilt at Jacksonville College.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
