Panola uses strong second half for comeback victory over No. 25 Blinn

CARTHAGE, Texas – No. 25 Blinn College men's basketball let a five-point halftime lead slip away as Panola College charged back to earn a 91-79 victory Wednesday night in Carthage.

The loss moves the Blinn record down to 10-2 overall and 2-2 in Region XIV play.

Morris Dunnigan led the way for the Buccaneers with 21 points while John Dewey added 14 and Corey Henderson chipped in with 13 points in the loss.

Blinn had everything going early on as the Buccaneers jumped out to a 20-9 lead and led for the entire first half. With a late 3-pointer, Blinn was able to grab a 43-38 lead at the break.

The second half didn't not start how Blinn would have liked as Panola shot out with an 8-0 run to take control of the game. The Buccaneers fought off a furious rally on Saturday, Dec. 5 against Paris Junior College but were unable to get the game under control against Panola.

Blinn did get within 61-55 with five minutes left to play but then Panola countered with a 6-0 run due to consecutive 3-pointers to regain the momentum and eventually earn the victory.

Blinn will be back in action Wednesday, Dec. 30 at home against Houston Community College at 6 p.m.
